Club Car #4: G B & W Midwest 'N' Pioneer Model Railroad Club, together with Lombard Hobbies, has commissioned Micro-Trains Line Co. to produce a special run 2-pack of their 27000 series box car. This is the fourth set in our series. ![]() GB&W 2-Pack $40.00The Wisconsin Central Transportation Company was the largest regional railroad in North America and through mergers owned approximately 2800 route miles of track and trackage rights in Wisconsin, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, northeastern Illinois, eastern Minnesota, and Ontario, Canada. In 1987 Wisconsin Central purchased The Sault Ste. Marie Bridge Company which was formed in 1886 to build and operate the international railroad bridge between Sault Ste. Marie, MI and Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. In recent years, the freight cars of the GB&W Railroad have been re-stenciled with the reporting marking SSAM. The ex-Green Bay & Western 50' rib side box cars have plug doors and are without roof-walks. The cars are painted reefer yellow with yellow ends and aluminum roof. The black, white and red GB&W logo will be featured on each side. The cars will carry an over print of SSAM reporting marks with road numbers 50001 & 50034 and a build date of 8/81. |
